NAI Shames Makovsky Wins ‘Retail Deal of the Year’ Award for Sale of VOA Property in RiNo

On March 16, 2023, the Denver Metro Commercial Association of Realtors (DMCAR) honored its top commercial real estate producers and projects of 2022 at the association’s annual Heavy Hitters Awards. NAI Shames Makovsky brokers Dorit Fischer and Hayden Hirschfeld and client EDENS were awarded Retail Deal of the Year for the sale of 2660 Larimer Street.

In the summer of 2022, national real estate owner, operator and developer EDENS purchased 2660 Larimer St., a nearly-full city block at 26th and Larimer in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. Dorit and Hayden represented EDENS on the sale of the approximately 97,000-square-foot property as part of a larger deal between EDENS and Volunteers of America Colorado (VOA).

VOA Colorado, which serves 1 million meals to more than 60,000 Coloradans in need each year, will move its kitchen, warehouse, and other operations to an 53,796 square foot space at 4915 E 52nd in Commerce City, Colorado, which was purchased for the VOA by EDENS as part of the deal, in addition to maintaining ownership of its current 20,000 square-foot Five Points headquarters. NAI Shames Makovsky also identified and brokered the deal to secure the Commerce City property for VOA Colorado on behalf of EDENS.

In addition to honoring the transaction as top retail DMCAR honored its Broker of the Year and introduced the inaugural winner of its DMCAR Project of the Year award, as well as Office and Industrial Deals of the Year.
